Building regulations Part E sets minimum airborne and impact sound insulation requirements between dwellings. In extensions adding bedrooms or living spaces adjacent to neighbours, acoustic consideration is important. Mineral wool, acoustic plasterboard, resilient bars, and floating floors are common solutions.
